AMET Ltd. has
firm relations with leading research institutes that work with
metallurgy technologies and metallurgy engineering (Moscow Institute
of Steel and Alloys, Central Research Institute of Ferrous
Metallurgy, All-union Research Institute of Metallurgy Engineering),
with specialized design institutes (GIPROMEZ, STALPROEKT, GIPROKOKS,
TYAZHPROMELECTROPROEKT, Central Research Institute of Steel
Structures Design etc.), VO "Tyazhpromexport" as well as leading
metallurgical plants (Novolipetskiy Metallurgical Complex)
and metallurgical engineering plants (Electrostalskiy Plant of
Heavy Engineering, Engineering Plant "Azovmash", Belogorodskiy
Energy Engineering Plant etc.).
AMET Ltd in
co-operation with the mentioned organizations took part in
construction of sintering unit and converter unit No.2 of
Rourkella Steel Plant, in construction of sintering unit and blast
furnaces No.2&4 of Durgapur Steel Plant. At present AMET
Ltd. is rendering technical assistance services to increase
productivity of Bokaro Steel Plant converter unit No.2 and
continuous casting department of Jindal Steel Plant converter
shop (all enterprises are in India).
AMET Ltd. is
the leader of a Consortium established for combined desing
engineering, supply of equipment and rendering of technical
assistance during construction of oxygen-converter shops abroad. The
Consortium includes GIPROMEZ, MISA, Stalproekt, CNIIPSK and VNIPI
TPEP.
The
Consortium is the biggest association in the CIS which constructs
oxygen-converter shops with converters of various capacity (20
tonnes and more). Jointly prepared technical commercial offers for
oxygen-converter shop construction for a number of metallurgical
enterprises are now being sold.
One of the
directions of AMET Ltd. activity is export of new high-performance
metallurgical technologies, sale of licences and
"know-how".

At present AMET
Ltd. in close co-operation with the technology developer, Moscow
Institute of Steel & Alloys (MISA), is marketing a new
generation process of coke-free metallurgy - ROMELT. The
process is proprietary design of MISA, Moscow, Russia design and is
patented in many countries. Recently this technology has obtained
the recognition all over the world. In 1995 the licence on this
technology was sold to Japanese companies Nisse Ivai and Nippon
Steel and also to American company ISF Kaiser and in 1997 - to Joint
Indian-Russian Venture Romelt-SAIL (India) Limited. In 1998
Indian mining company "National Mineral Development
Corporation" bought the licence on this technology with
the purpose to use it for utilization of iron-bearing wastes
(sludges) accumulated in piles and producing harmful effect on the
ecology of the region.
